48th Annual Worst-Dressed List 2007 by Mr. Blackwell

Since 1960, fashion critic Mr. Blackwell has been offering annual lists of the worst dressed in Hollywood. In his 48th edition, 10 more stars gained fashion notoriety though many will look familiar from past years.

Many view the list as a status symbol, or a badge of honor or dishonor (depending how you look at it). Some (boston.com) say you haven't really made it in Hollywood until you''ve made Mr. Blackwell's list.

Now, see who made it this year.

No. 10 – Alison Arngrim

Perhaps her role as a child star on "Little House on the Prairie" stunted the growth of her fashion sense. Or perhaps she's just fondly recalling her days of wearing homespun fabrics. Whatever the reason, actress and comedian Alison Arngrim just can't seem to pull together a decent oufit. As Mr. Blackwell says, she "looks like a 1940s fashion editor for the Farmers Almanac."

No. 9 – Lindsay Lohan

Miss Lohan's had a tough year. From arrests to rehab stints, she's been through a lot. So couldn't we cut her some slack and forgive her fashion mishaps? Nope. As Mr. Blackwell points out, "Lohan takes fashion to a new low," and that's just unforgivable.

No. 8 – Jessica Simpson

Harsh, overdone makeup? Check. Eye-catching, chest-crushing prom gown? Check. Dull hair extensions? Check. This usually-blonde bombshell just keeps striking out. Mr. Blackwell wonders, "Can it get any worse? She's a global fashion curse!"

No. 7 – Avril Lavigne

Some might say this Canadian songstress has come a long way from her days of tank tops, ties, and baggy pants. Mr. Blackwell, unfortunately, is not convinced. Lavigne's edgy combination of plaid, bows, and fishnets is apparently a little too over the top for the critic. He quips, "Fashions provided by ... the house of Dracula!"

No. 6 – Eva Green

French actress Eva Green may have played a witch in "The Golden Compass," but nothing could be more terrifying than her gaudy, overstated red carpet fashions. It seems nobody told the former Bond girl that bold dresses should be matched with subtle makeup. Or subtle hair. Or both. Pick a focus, Eva! As Mr. Blackwell says, "Fashion this loud could give Bond a migraine!"

No. 5 – Kelly Clarkson

Though American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson may be a pioneer in the reality TV singer competition category, a trend-setter she is not. "Her heavenly voice soars above the rest...but those belly-baring bombs are hellish at best!" says Mr. Blackwell.

No. 4 – Fergie

Mr. Blackwell has a bone to pick with Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie. "Another style-free Fergie in fashion's hall of shame? Yes, when it comes to couture chaos, guess it's all in a name!" the critic says. The 32-year-old singer, whose real name is Stacy Ferguson, may be soon changing that name — she's engaged to actor Josh Duhamel.

No. 3 – Mary Kate Olsen

In the Hollywood spotlight since infancy, media mogul and former "Full House" castmate Mary Kate Olsen makes it onto Mr. Blackwell's list this year. The critic thinks "she resembles a tattered toothpick trapped in a hurricane!"

No. 2 – Amy Winehouse

This year, Mr. Blackwell left Britney Spears off the list because "her personal life is in such upheaval." It's surprising that troubled singer Amy Winehouse, who has canceled all her public appearances on doctor's orders, was given no such pardon. What Mr. Blackwell refers to as "exploding beehives above ... tacky polka-dots below" must have been too much to ignore.

No. 1 – Victoria Beckham

Her name in the British pop group the Spice Girls may be "Posh," slang for fashionable in the United Kingdom, but Mr. Blackwell disagrees. "In one skinny-mini monstrosity after another, pouty posh can really wreck 'em," Blackwell says of the pint-sized singer's wardrobe.
